DryNZ Limited is a privately owned and operated food drying business located in Waiuku, south of Auckland. It sources produce from New Zealand’s best heartland growers and produces a range of wholesale dried fruit, vegetable and medicinal products. These come in the form of pieces, powders and slices.

Utilising the existing DriedFresh™ technology - built by Scott Technology Ltd in Dunedin - the dehydration process allows fruit, vegetables and other foods to be dried in a unique and superior way to alternative methods such as thermal and freeze drying.

The end result is products with exquisite flavours and goodness, commanding a premium selling price due to superior colour, flavour and bioactivity. They are used in cereals, teas, energy bars, yoghurts, desserts and smoothies, which can be sold in bulk or packaged for wholesale delivery to New Zealand companies and export markets.

As a price attraction for purchasers, DryNZ reduces the cost of shipping and adds to the product’s shelf life by removing 80 – 90% of the weight in produce as water. This also makes the produce more sustainable for export and allows for the use of non-export sized fruit, reducing waste for the growers, and is more profitable for the business.

Demand now outstrips supply, and as DryNZ is at full capacity with its existing vacuum dryers, there is a need for the business to increase volume with the acquisition of a new larger dryer.

Capital Raising

DryNZ has investigated and trialled a range of dryers to expand production. As a result of this research it intends to purchase a Bucher dryer from Switzerland, given Bucher’s reputation of state of the art technology and exceptional customer service.

This dryer will increase their drying capacity by 7 times the present capability and will enable the business to be more profitable, grow its customer base, and provide for self-funded growth.

To assist them fund this expansion, the business looking for $1.5 million capital from equity investors in the form of ordinary shares in DryNZ Limited.

The company has recently been valued based on financial projections incorporating the new dryer and other processing equipment. At that valuation, if fully subscribed, the new shareholders would acquire approximately 21.6% of the shares in DryNZ Limited.
